Quito’s Historic Center

Our Hostal Friends in Quito, located in the heart of the historic center, is a large sector of the city that rose above the ashes of what was the capital of the northern half of the Inca Empire until General Inca Rumiñahui burned it until the foundations trying to prevent it from falling into the hands of the Spanish conquerors.

It has about 130 monumental buildings, one of which is Friends Hostel Quito, decorated with a great diversity of pictorial and sculptural art, mainly of a religious nature inspired by a multifaceted range of schools and styles, and five thousand properties registered in the municipal inventory of assets.

Friends Quito, is located in the Historic Center of Quito, which was declared by UNESCO, together with Krakow (Poland), the first Cultural Heritage of Humanity on September 8, 1978. This place has the magic of transporting those who visit it in the past, while walking between colonial-style houses, such as our Hotel in Quito Friends, next to which you can see its stone sidewalks.

Our Friends Hostel in Quito, is in this city full of history, so, at the beginning of the 20th century, the city was barely within the limits of the Historic Center. One of the most interesting aspects was that during the colonial era the native and Spanish cultures coexisted and mixed.
